Work Day: Chapters Change Children
Because of low turn-out at the last work party, we still have some work to do to get the books ready to ship. Kevin will be at the warehouse from 9 to 12 Saturday, June 15, 2013, to complete this process, and he would appreciate all the help he can get. We need to box books and organize them neatly on 2 1/2 more pallets. Meanwhile, we will need a few people to shrink wrap all the pallets (which is a good project for those aged members of our club who are wary of straining their backs or other parts). Once the books are ready to go, we also need to clear out the 6+ pallets of trash/unusable materials. Anne has arranged for a dumpster to be delivered by Davis Waste Removal gratis (THANK YOU ANNE!!), so we will need to take out the trash on Saturday. Finally, Carolina’s Haiti library project will be picking up their books from the warehouse starting at 10, and may need some help loading their truck. Please come support this completion of our project!
Tequila Y Mas
Greetings Rotary District 5160 Club Presidents and Secretaries,
You, your spouses and all of your clubs’ members are cordially invited to attend our first ever “Tequila Y Mas” special fundraiser, 6:30–9:30 p. m., Saturday, July 20, at the Veterans Hall, 610 St. Francis Way, right here in Rio Vista. “Where in the heck is Rio Vista?” you may ask. Well, we’re a little city located where Highway 12 crosses the Sacramento River, about 40 miles downriver from Sacramento. Yup, we’re part of District 5160, and proud of it. We’re attaching a flier to fill you in on the details.
What? You don’t drink Tequila? You’ll have to drive home that night? Okay. We know what you must be thinking. Well, hold your horses, there. This is not a tequila drinking extravaganza. This is a tequila SAVORING delight. You’ll be given ¼ ounce samples of this fine beverage that will tickle your tongue and please your palate–just the right amount to fully appreciate the wonderful qualities of these fine spirits. Between sips, you’ll be served exquisite hors d’oeuvres to further sate your gustatory desires.
You’ll also have the opportunity to mingle with other Rotarians from our district seeking the same quality experience that you’ll enjoy. This message is being sent to all District 5160 clubs. We’re asking you all to consider attending this remarkable event. Tickets are $35 in advance or $40 at the door. You may contact us as directed on our flier.
